Things You Might Not Know About Christmas
Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so why are all the pagan influences? Do you think that maybe Satan has taken control of what should be a celebration of Jesus’ birth and flipped it back into a celebration of him? You decide for yourself…
Let’s start with the Christmas tree, which you will find adorned every December in most Churches.
The Prophet Jeremiah condemned the ancient Pagan Middle Eastern practice of cutting down trees, bringing them into the home and decorating them. Of course, these were not really Christmas trees, because Jesus was not born until centuries later, and the use of Christmas trees was not introduced for many centuries after his birth. Apparently, in Jeremiah’s time the “heathen” would cut down trees, carve or decorate them in the form of a god or goddess, and overlay it with precious metals. Some Christians feel that this Pagan practice was similar enough to our present use of Christmas trees that this passage from Jeremiah can be used to condemn both.
Jeremiah 10:3-4 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
According to Wikipedia, “The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. Tree worship was common among the pagan Europeans”
So was December the 25th really the birth date of Jesus? Probably not. On December 25th (Christmas), the Romans held a pagan festival called Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, “the birthday of the unconquered sun.” December 25 was the date after the winter solstice , also called the midwinter yule, with the first detectable lengthening of daylight hours. The Romans called their winter holiday Saturnalia, honoring Saturn, the God of Agriculture. The festival (Christmas) season was marked by raucous partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving, all traditions of this feast past and now present for most. So why would Pope Julius designate December 25th as Christ’s birthday, literally and figuratively the darkest day of the year?
“December 25th can be traced back to Genesis and a man named Nimrod. Nimrod was the founder of a great false religious system that began in ancient Babylon that has always opposed the truths of God. It’s time we face facts! This world is deceived, just as God prophesied it would be (Rev. 12:9). Satan is the power behind this deception. Satan has successfully pawned off the old customs of the Babylonian mystery religion as being pleasing to Jesus Christ.” – By Carl Hilliker and Mark Jenkins December 2002 article in; The Trumpet
Isaiah 14:14 I (Satan) will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.
John’s Vision of Jesus in Revelation:
Revelation 1:13-15 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
See any similarities of Santa Clause in the depiction of Jesus in Revelation 1:13-15 above? Does “feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace” relate to Santa coming down the Chimney into the fireplace?
Matthew 27:29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand…
Santa Clause is frequently depicted wearing a crown of holly which has thorny leaves.
Revelation 20:15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
“He’s (Santa) making a list, and checking it twice; gonna find out who’s naughty and nice. Santa Claus is coming to town” What did you get in your stocking from Santa if you were bad? Coal Where does coal come from? A lake of fire
Psalm 139:1-2 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
“He (Santa) sees you when you’re sleeping he knows when you’re awake he knows if you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake”
“Santa” also spells “Satan”
Mark 9:42 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.
